Here you can see what a 35mm lens can do when you have plenty of distance in between the subject. This is an image of Devil's Lake in Wisconsin.

With this next photo, you can also see what happens with a 35mm lens on a much closer subject. Roughly the same location on the same day we have an image of Devil's Doorway with the same settings.

This image was taken with a tripod although a handheld shot would suffice. The clouds did roll in at times leading to a darker than usual shot that could have been adjusted with a flash or longer exposure times.
